The Weekly Wind Down #36
The Devil Wears Prada 2, work events, bank holiday weekend, and new sewing projects.
Hiya Huns,
How are we all doing? What a glorious week we’ve had weather-wise. I always feel like an 80-year-old when I say that, haha. It was almost like a mini summer. But then, of course, the clouds have now rolled in, and the temperatures have returned to the chilly winds and grey days.
I hope you all had a wonderful bank holiday. What did you get up to?
Mine has been spent sewing and designing some looks for Gabriel and me for our upcoming holiday, which is so close now. Two weeks, baby!
This past week has felt like a whirlwind looking back, but it’s been lovely as I took some time off working to meet PR’s, see friends, and attend events without having to watch the clock.
Sincerely, This Week:
The week started with meeting up with two of my besties and their babies for a coffee and a catch-up. I’m so happy for them, and I can’t wait for the time when I’ll be there with my little one(s). They’re both growing up so quickly (the babies, not the friends, haha), and each time I see them, they’ve learnt something new.
On Tuesday, I paid a visit to my amazing doctor at Therapie Clinic in Belgravia to get a top-up of my Botox before my trip, and then Gabriel and I filmed some content before going to the cinema to see the new Super Mario Galaxy Movie, because yes, I loved it that much I wanted him to see it.
Wednesday saw me head into London for a meeting with a beauty PR, a special afternoon tea event with Imperial Leather hosted by the lovely Tom Read Wilson at Raffles - it’s such a nostalgic brand. I ended the day by joining my old work girls to celebrate my friend’s hen do.
Then Thursday was spent with a darling friend catching up over lunch, before heading to Next’s Spring, Summer press day and then Never Fully Dressed’s summer party at John Lewis’ rooftop. I love being able to take my time doing these things, as it’s so nice to see others whom you’ve not seen for a long time and properly catch up.
Friday was yet another lovely lunch in the sunshine with a travel PR, and then of course another journey to the cinema with Gabriel and a friend to see The Devil Wears Prada 2, which I loved.
As I said previously, the weekend has been spent designing and sewing some new pieces for our wardrobes before we head off to Las Vegas in two weeks.
What You’ve Missed:
The Moodboard:
Watching: The Devil Wears Prada 2 - Obviously, this is going to be my recommendation this week. I’ve been waiting 20 years, and in my opinion, it delivered. I’ve seen a few mixed reviews, but I loved it. It packed in the nostalgia of the first with references to the cerulian jumper, the iconic “that’s all”, and more. It highlighted a lot of issues that the publishing world is facing, and presented them in a way for those not in it to understand. I loved the character development from the first to now, seeing their journeys, what they’d been up to, etc. I also felt the storyline was easy to follow and just pure fun. I’ll definitely be going to see it again.
Listening to: Runway by Lady Gaga & Doechii - I wasn’t hugely fussed about the song, I liked it, but not enough to be like wow. Then came the music video, and suddenly I’m hooked. Seeing the movie also helped amplify its brilliance. The music video served high fashion, and the beat gives me summer banger vibes just like Rain On Me with Gaga and Ariana.
Eating: Girly lunch - If you don’t know what this is, it’s the ultimate summer lunchtime meal set-up consisting of a salad with a side of fries and a crisp rosé.
The Edit:
It’s another brow product!
Benefit has recently launched its new Dream Sheen Tinted Brow Glaze, and it consists of a tinted formula that creates a glazed, fixed look mimicking the aftereffects and appearance of getting your brows laminated.
It has a dual-ended spatula where one side carries the pigment to apply, and then a comb side to brush it through and set the brows.
It’s available in three different shades: light, medium, and deep.
Top tip: When applying products like these, brush your brows in the opposite direction first, fan and leave the brows to go slightly tacky, and then brush back in place so that the hairs are fully covered and hold their direction better.

Sincerely, Me:
I recently found myself in a situation where someone tried to confront me about the boundaries I had put in place.
My mind and body automatically went it to the mode that I usually resort to, feeling anxious, bad, and overthinking, but I reminded myself that I had put them in place for a reason: to protect my energy.
I took a minute and handled the situation calmly by replying politely. Not in the way in which this person was trying to goad me into.
It’s funny how people are surprised when they learn that you have put in boundaries to protect your peace. They usually don’t like it or understand, and that’s fine. They don’t have to understand. You also don’t need to take the time to explain to them why you did this.
If they’re close friends, then maybe a conversation might be wise to have. But if it’s someone you haven’t spoken to in over a year or two, or are no longer close to, then it’s entirely up to you how you want to deal with any situations you find yourself in.
The key thing to remember is that you don’t owe these people anything. There’s a reason the relationship isn’t the same. There’s a reason you put these boundaries in place.
Setting boundaries is not selfish, but rather a necessary act of self-respect.
Quote for the week: “If someone throws a fit because you set boundaries, it’s just more evidence that the boundary is needed” - Fred Stuvek Jr
Sincerely, Scott xx
