The Weekly Wind Down #29
A new work project, an exciting trip announcement, and the tastiest doughnuts.
Hiya Huns,
How are we all doing? The world is pretty heavy right now with a lot of things going on in it. So, I want to make sure you’re all doing ok, and trying to find light amongst the darkness that seems to be surrounding the world.
My week has been a good one. More chilled than the one before. Thank you all for the love on the outfit and styling I did for Fleur East for the Brit Awards. You guys are the best. I have created a new, dedicated Instagram account for all of my styling and designing content. So, please do follow @byscottdasilvawells on Instagram if you haven’t already.
Another project came my way very last-minute this week, and I cannot tell you how excited I am to share it when I can.
Next week’s newsletter will be put on pause, I’m afraid, as I’m going away on a very exciting work trip back to my happy place of Universal Studios. But that means I’ll have so much to share with you once I am back.
But for now, let’s get into this week’s wind down…
Sincerely, This Week:
I’ve been writing about some great beauty newness this week from the likes of Charlotte Tilbury’s amazing new and world-first Recoverstem™ Peptide moisturiser, and an exciting new launch coming from Huda Beauty.
Alongside this, I’ve been working on a new styling project for a private client that will be a big pinch-me-moment. This means I have had to contact various brands for clothing and accessories for an event they are attending. All will be revealed next week, so you won’t have long to wait.
Besides this, I’ve been catching up with friends over coffee and delicious food at Rosa’s Thai. They do a great lunch deal where you can get a starter, main, side and a drink for £15. The portions were very generous as well, so it’s definitely a great deal to remember if you’re out and about the city, as they have various branches around London.
I gave myself Friday off to make up for not having much of a weekend the previous week, which was followed by a very chill Saturday.
Today (Sunday) is my niece’s birthday. She turned six, and I honestly don’t know when she grew up so fast. She always has been, but she’s turning more into the most precious and kind little human. She’s amazing. To celebrate, she had a little bowling party with her friends, and then it was present time before demolishing pizza for dinner. All the while, I got puppy time with my sister’s dog, Willow.

The Moodboard:
Watching: Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette on Disney+ - I feel like it’s been a while since I watched a show/ love story like this. It’s based around the relationship of John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, just in case the title didn’t give it away, and we see them getting together and then navigating their new relationship in the public eye. The storyline is great, but the outfits and music make it even better. It’s a great show to pop on if you want to chill and get lost in a lovely dovey storyline.
Listening to: Table Manners Podcast with Alan Carr and Amanda Holden - I love the Table Manners Podcast with Jessie Ware and her mum, Lennie, any day, but when I saw that Amanda and Alan were going to be guests, I knew it was going to be amazing. It was pure brilliance. They discuss filming in Corfu for their latest BBC show, share countless laughs over memories and stories, and, of course, their favourite foods. It’s a hilarious episode that makes you feel as though you’re sitting with them, laughing along.
Eating: Joe Blake’s Doughnuts - Whilst Gabriel and I were out on Friday in Bond Street station, we saw a Joe Blake’s stall in a station, and the doughnuts looked incredible. They were packed full of various fillings, including pistachio, custard, and so many more. They do a deal of four for £12, so of course we chose this. We decided on red velvet, Biscoff, Nutella, and lemon. All four were incredible, but our favourite was the lemon.
The Edit:
I recently got a new jacket, and it’s become my personality at this point. You’ve all loved it when I share the above reel on Instagram,
It’s the limited-edition Ariat Sendero Stockton Jacket, and it’s already selling out fast. It’s covered with custom patches on the front, with an emboroidered slogan which says “west is best” on the back. The navy colour makes it a versatile shade to style with almost anything, and it’s smart, collared design instantly adds a crisp finish to a look.
It’s lightweight enough to layer a knit underneath, but will be stand out during the warmer Spring/ Summer months.

Sincerely, Me:
I’m very good at minimising my work and achievements.
When someone says “well done” or “oh wow, that’s amazing,” for some reason, I find it hard to accept it. I end up talking it down, saying things like “yeah, it’s ok”, or “it would have been better if.”
I’m not sure where this has come from. Maybe having to endlessly explain or defend ideas at work.
However, I’ve realised how this was doing more harm than good to my confidence. I don’t have a great deal anyway, that might come as a shock to some. But I often second-guess or diminish ideas quickly.
Not anymore.
Going forward, I’m going to try my best not to discredit myself, my achievements, or feel the need to over-explain my work. I won’t find the negatives in the positives, even when those around me are constantly praising me.
I feel like, weirdly, society has made us not want to be confident in what we do. If we do, we’re labelled as egotistical or arrogant. But so, what? We should always be proud of what we do. No matter whether it’s something people might deem small or huge, it’s still an achievement and doesn’t need to be explained.
People can make up their own minds without you needing to over-explain. One thing to always remember is that their opinions are none of your business. As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters.
Quote for the week: “The moment something needs to be explained it loses the most valuable thing it had, which is the invitation to explore” - Letters From the Front Row
Sincerely, Scott xx
