The Weekly Wind Down #26
The skincare product that's saving my skin, Valentine's Day celebrations, and an exciting work project.
Hiya Huns,
Happy belated Valentine’s Day to you beauties! I hope those who celebrated it, whether it was with a partner, girlfriends, or even just yourself, had a lovely time.
I don’t want to wish time away, but the fact that we’re over halfway through the month and March isn’t too far away makes me feel excited for the longer and brighter days ahead, because all of this rain and grey isn’t fun, pals.
This week has been busy, yet a write-off as the flu finally got Gabriel and me, so we have primarily been in bed recovering while still working - because we still got to make those coins.
Sincerely, This Week:
I revealed on Notes this week that I confirmed a big project, and all I’m going to say is that it’s a styling job for a celebrity. I’ll reveal more soon, hehe. It’s made me realise how much I miss styling and putting looks together, etc. I've been doing so much writing lately, and don’t get me wrong, whilst I enjoy it, it doesn’t fill the creative void within me, apart from Travel writing, as it allows me to mentally and sometimes physically jet off to somewhere else, but being up and doing things always gets my brain going.
So, I’ve mostly been working on researching, contacting brands, etc., on the days when I haven’t been writing for publications.
On Friday, to celebrate Valentine’s Day, Gabriel and I had a cute date night out in London. We went to Busaba in Covent Garden, where we chose from the pre-theatre menu, which was only £17 each, and you chose from a starter and a main. It’s a Thai restaurant and the food was amazing. Brilliant portion sizes and the vibes are really nice.
After this, we went to see Hercules at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. We had heard mixed reviews before going, and our verdict was also very mixed. I don’t want to be mean about it, but it wasn’t the best. I’m all for big productions, big costumes, big numbers, and everything just fell a little short for me. When I went to see Frozen at the same theatre, I cried at the spectacle of it all. This time, I was left wanting more, and it wasn’t that it was really bad; I just wanted more.
Saturday was a day of turning the living room into my sewing/ creating space (sorry for the mess, Gabriel). I miss draping and creating so much that I’m definitely using this project to propel me to get back into it more.
Sunday was the same, however, in the afternoon we went over to my mum’s to see my niece and nephew, and the newest member of the family, my sister and brother-in-law’s new dog, Willow. I’m desperately trying to persuade Gabriel to let us get one, but he’s not sold. So, if you want to help persuade him, I’d love you dearly.
What You’ve Missed:
The Moodboard:
Watching: Figure Skating at the Winter Olympics - I’ve turned into one of the judges on Dancing On Ice whilst watching the figure skating at the Winter Olympics this week. It’s been tense, dramatic, and heartbreaking when individuals fell, but it’s been SO good.
Listening to: Zedd - Zedd is a DJ who I’ll be seeing in a few weeks on a special trip, and to get me ready, I listened to their playlist on Spotify, and I forgot how many brilliant songs they made with the likes of Ariana Grande, Hayley Steinfeld, Selena Gomez and more. It brought back so many memories of my teens.
Eating: Whipped Feta - for Gabriel’s birthday, we went to a restaurant called Megan’s, where they served this dip alongside warm bread. Turns out it was whipped feta, and I’m a big fan of feta, so we remade it at home, and I’m having it on everything. My main dish, which is chef’s kiss, is eggs and fried serrano ham, with a layer of whipped feta on toast.
The Edit:
I love a tinted moisturiser because it gives you that instant lift in your mood as you look a little more presentable. This week, I’ve been using the Collection Skin Tint, and with how I’ve been feeling, it has been a godsend.
It is available in eight shades from Very Fair to Deep. It’s packed with healthy ingredients such as Squalane, Glycerine, Niacinamide, and Vitamin C to hydrate, minimise pores, and brighten the skin while the tint immediately adds a soft glow. Perfect for those days when you don’t have the energy to do a full face.
The best part is that it’s only £6.99!

Sincerely, Scott:
Today I started watching The Rachel Zoe Project, and if you’re a fashion fan, then you’ll know all about it. It’s where stylist to the stars Brad Goreski, who styles the likes of Demi Moore and Kaley Cuoco, got his big break after working for the brilliant stylist Rachel Zoe, who is currently a new housewife of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
But anyway, there’s a girl in the programme called Taylor who is portrayed as, let’s say, that person who isn’t happy when a new person comes around, makes choices that put others in bad situations, and speaks and looks down on others.
We all know a Taylor.
Those people who can’t clap for others. The one who will purposefully sabotage those they don’t like. They’ll make people second-guess their decisions and gaslight the individual. If something goes wrong, somehow it’s always yours or someone else’s fault.
The world is cruel enough at the moment, with all the craziness that is happening across it, that being a decent human should be something we strive to be.
During my career and time in the fashion/ beauty world, I’ve met many Taylors, and I’ve also seen people be Taylors to others, and I hate to see it. I’ve trained a lot of people, and I always say I want them to be better than me one day.
However, others aren’t like that. They will do and say things to make you feel small. The best thing to do in these situations is to remember that it all comes back down to their own lack of self-belief and insecurities.
You keep pushing and striving for the best.
You keep aiming high and wanting more.
You keep doing you.
Quote for the week: “Let their words bounce off your boundaries. Let your calmness speak louder than their noise. And let this timeless wisdom carry you through: You are not defined by how others treat you, but by how you choose to treat yourself.” - Rebecca Baker
Sincerely, Scott xx
